About

LaCava_Jan_2019 (224)Kate LaCava received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Bob Jones University in 2006 where she sang in the University Chorale and the University Chamber Singers, the school’s premier choral groups. She had many solo opportunities throughout her schooling. Kate took advantage of the summer months during her education by attending multiple workshops, including the McClosky Summer Institute of Voice Workshop in 2008 and the Michigan Opera Theater’s Opera Workshop in the summer of 2005. She completed her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at Converse College in 2010, and was invited to become a member of the Rho chapter in the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.

Throughout her education, she won the regional NATS competition twice and was awarded the Reid Brown Outstanding College Female Singer Award in 2005. She received honors every time she sang. She also won the university’s Commencement Competition in 2006. She is currently an active member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and participates in adjudications while her students participate in the vocal auditions.

Kate began singing with her family around the dinner table when she was a little girl. As a teenager, she toured with her family and sang in multiple countries around the world where her passion for music and singing was cultivated. She has studied voice privately for over thirteen years. Her past performance experience includes operas and opera scenes performed in her schooling and at the Detroit Opera House, solo oratorio work with full orchestra, yearly recitals, and independent event singing opportunities.

Kate and her husband, Matt, moved to Colorado in the summer of 2010. She currently teaches voice at Voce dalla Cava Voice Studio (Brighton), Joyful Noise Music School (Brighton), and sings professionally in Denver with St. Martin’s Chamber Choir, Colorado’s first year-round, fully professional choir. Matt is the worship pastor at Redeemer Bible Church in Brighton and Kate sings with the worship team.

Kate loves performing and teaching the art of singing to others. She is committed to her students and seeks to help them to reach their highest vocal and dramatic potential.
